If you are looking for a treat to overcome your almost over the week frustrations I have found an awesome spot for you. Tucked away behind a gated area of Laura and Adams St in Downtown Jacksonville is a little event which occurs every third Thursday of the month called Jaxons Night Market. What is it? A community of local farmers and street food vendors who set up shop offering items from fresh grown fruits and veggies, craft beer, to coconut bacon. Coconut bacon is what I said. I had no idea this event occurred until my good friend Justy invited me out to hang out with her and her friend Rachel who was in town for the week. (Love Rachel) When I arrived there was a throng of people peeking around booths, dancing to the live band crooning, and going from food truck to food truck deciding what they wanted to have for dinner.
I walked around a bit deciding what I wanted when I stumbled across Dig Foods, a small company which offers fresh grown vegan and vegetarian entrees.. I have been trying to try this place for MONTHS and never seemed to be able to catch up with them. I scored my chance and was not disappointed. I ordered the spaghetti squash topped with kale and a creamy sauce. It was everything I hoped it would be.I boarded the Belle of the Boulevard mobile fashion boutique and snagged an item. (More to come of this.) I won't lie to you all the weather was a bit muggy and I just couldn't take it anymore. After hanging around for a while longer, sampling cookies and that darn coconut bacon, entering a raffle, and meeting a few people, I was out.
My eyes were closed.. aaah. lol
If you're interested in checking out the Jaxons Night Market it occurs every third Thursday rain or shine from 5:30pm- 9:00pm. Find them on Facebook here. Even if you don't want to stay, its a great free venue to swing by after work for a bite to eat, enjoy an evening downtown, or just do something out of the ordinary. The only thing I regret was that I had to leave a little early/ and the muggy weather, yuck. By night fall they have the corner lit up and even more people arrived. This is a lovely family oriented event anyone can enjoy. Check it out next month.
Have you been before?
